When we talk about root canal treatment, we are talking about endodontics, which is the treatment of the nerve in the tooth and its roots. This is necessary when the pulp is affected by caries or trauma, when the tooth is necrotic (dead) or as a preventive measure in certain cases of restoration.

In general, if you are recommended to have an endodontic procedure in Brossard, it is because you are already experiencing pain. This pain comes from the inflammation around the tooth itself.
The treatment aims to free you from this suffering; you will feel the effect immediately after the treatment. Depending on the case, you may be prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs to help with postoperative discomfort.
Some people ask us to extract the tooth in order to avoid endodontics. However, it must be understood that extraction is an option, but only as a last resort.
For many reasons, it is preferable to keep the tooth: the other teeth will tend to move to fill the hole (even in adulthood), which can eventually manifest itself in crooked teeth and even deform your jaw.
Nevertheless, this can be avoided with implant fixation, but ultimately it represents much higher costs than root canal treatment in our Brossard clinic.
Depending on your situation, more than one visit may be required: before the treatment, the day of the treatment and afterwards to evaluate the result of the treatment. Sometimes a second root canal is necessary, but this is quite rare.
