FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

About the treatment

Whether it’s operative, cosmetic or aesthetic dentistry, the entire family is treated in one place. No more running from one clinic to another for children, parents or grandparents. Now it’s no longer necessary to keep files and x-rays in varying locations. We make sure your appointments are scheduled on the day and at the time that suits you and your family best.

Teeth yellowing can be caused by a number of outside factors:

Certain drinks such as tea, wine, or coffee
Tabacco – or more specifically – nicotine use
Bacteria buildup due to poor dental hygiene
Certain medications

Internal causes can also cause tooth discoloration: heredity, excess fluoride or older age. In the latter case, there is a yellowing of the dentin and a reduction of the enamel.

If you recognize one of these factors as being responsible for the discoloration of your teeth, there is a good chance that the problem can be solved with our tooth whitening service. Talk to us. We will evaluate the siutation together and lay out what is possible.

It is now accepted that whitening is safe for tooth enamel, even if it causes temporary tooth sensitivity for some people. New whitening gels are enriched with fluoride and potassium nitrate, two substances that strengthen the tooth and make it more resistant to sensitivity after treatment.

It should be noted, however, that the results of a teeth whitening procedure are not permanent and that it will be necessary to repeat the process every few years. Also, keep in mind that you will get a smile that is lightened by several shades, but you won’t get the pristine white that you see in advertisements.

Whitening gel affects both enamel and dentin. It does not work on dental crowns, bridges, or veneers. It is recommended to change them to a whiter color after the treatment.

Teeth whitening is not advised for smokes: it is recommended to quit smoking before treatment as nicotine use contributes heavily to tooth yellowing. It is strongly discouraged if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant. Similarly, it is not recommended for children under the age of 12 years.

IN-HOME TREATMENT

For your convenience, we offer at-home teeth whitening: our dentists take an impression of your teeth at our clinic and breakdown how to perform the procedure. Then, you will carry out the whitening process independently at home. In following the instructions given to you by our professionals, the treatment is very easy to implement.
